About the Library

The Institute Library was established on August 1, 1977 to serve the then Center for Nuclear Studies. Between 1977 and 2013, Library services were housed at A-217 (present day Lyceum). The Library shifted to its purpose-built building in 2013. PIEAS Central Library is a three-storey purpose-built facility with an area of 16,662 square metres. It provides literature rooms, group discussion rooms, video conferencing facilities, and study carrels for academic research and private study.

General Rules
  1. All users shall leave personal belongings in lockers.
  2. Mobile phones, jewelry, passport, ATM cards and credit cards must not be kept in lockers.
  3. Users should leave books on tables after reading.
  4. Noise, disturbance and inappropriate behavior are prohibited.
  5. Food, drinks and smoking are not allowed inside the library.
  6. Damage to library materials is strictly prohibited.
  7. Proper dress code must be observed in the library.
Membership
  1. Membership forms are available at the library counter.
  2. Library is only for PIEAS students, faculty and staff.
  3. Members must return all material before leaving PIEAS.
Terms of Circulation
  • Faculty: 25 books
  • PhD Scholars: 15 books
  • BS/MS Students: 10 books
  • Staff: 5 books
Reference Section

Reference books, encyclopedias, dictionaries and theses are for in-library use only.

Replacement of Library Material

Lost or damaged books must be replaced with the same edition or cost recovery charges will apply.
